To access the Archive - NO

As a standalone copy of my system  - Yes with just a few config tweaks such as directory permissions

It is built on ASP and Access so IIS or PWS will be just fine and dandy.

The real power and flexibility of my Jukebox comes from a tightly controlled database.

The only time an MP3 will exist more than once is when there are 2 different versions of a song eg

MySong (Radio Edit)
MySong (Boringly Long arty mix)

It supports unlimited playlists and is self randomising.

My MP3 files sit in directories called

Wurlitzer0
Wurlitzer1
Wurlitzer2 etc

and the files are named 01506.mp3 or 14312.mp3 etc in the format AAATT.mp3 where AAA is the album number and TT is the track number of the album it was ripped from. If I have already ripped an identicle track from another CD I reference the MP3 file for that.

I have looked at using CDDB info and have also looked at the lists within the DHA archive and despite the best efforts to clean up the data I can still see glaringly obvious duplicates just because someone misspelt an artist name or album title.

I an looking to see if I can try to use CDDB to minimise some of the typing but basically I only have to enter and artist name once after that it is picked from a list, the same goes for titles by that artist.  You will see in time :-)

I also dont have any use for MP3 tags as I display as much info as I want from that database when I play the tracks including chart info etc.

I can search by almost anything I want to. (excluding what the artist had for breakfast the day before yesterday!)

Keith,

Is this something that could be loaded onto the envisaged server? - what
does it require? - IIS, PWS,... That machine will have the ENTIRE UKHA MP3
archive loaded on it! (and will have a half-decent spec...) ;-)

I have powered speakers standing by...

Paul G.
