Re: OT NTL odd problems with web mail - Again

NTL!

I'm a moderator on a web forum and for a while people on NTL broadband
were having *HUGE* problems posting..... it would sometimes work, but
generally failed, with the sort of errors you're talking about. Our
admin spoke to NTL and then posted this.......

<QUOTE>
A phone call to NTL has revealed that they are having a proxy problem
which is preventing some of their users posting on the forum. if you are
experiencing such a problem, then this is the fix:

Go to Internet explorer > Tools > Internet options > Connections tab >
Click the Lan settings button > Click the box for proxy settings.
Enter:
inktomi1-bel.server.ntl.com and port 8080

Then click ok and reboot your machine. If you can't find these settings,
then call NTL and ask them to take you through it. If they give you any
rubbish about there not being a problem you can set them straight that
there IS, since Rev got connected and posting after we did this but,
couldn't post before.
</QUOTE>

This uses the Belfast NTL proxy. I don't know if NTL normally uses a
transparent proxy or what, but this solved the problem for all our users :D
