I've seen the display that you're talking about and I wasn't hugely
impressed with its "off air" performance ... I didn't think that
the colours
of skin tones in particular were quite right no matter how much I messed
with the controls. As a monitor though it is quite superb.
One thing to think about if you're looking to use one of these in a bedroom
as a TV is that the amountg of light given off by these displays is quite
immense and at night in a darkened room is quite different to the light
given off by a CRT tube. I can have a TV on in an otherwise dark bedroom
and
watch a movie quite happily but for some reason I can't watch anything on
an
LCD in an otherwise darkened bedroom without it absolutely killing my eyes.
I was looking at a 15" monitor the other weekend that I was very
impressed
with ... it had a pivot stand so you could use it landscape or portrait
*AND* it had built in speakers for about £330. It was made by a company
called Corneatech (www.corneatech.com) and was very acceptable in as far as
the quality was concerned ... from browsing their website it seems that
they
do a 15" LCD with a touchscreen attachment (now how many of us would
want
that eh?), they do a 15" with built in TV tuner, a 17" with 15way
High
Density D (PC Monitor), DVI, S-Video and composite inputs, and they also do
a 17" with built in TV tuner.
The downside is that I couldn't find an importer (and hence a price) for
either the 15" with touchscreen or the 17" with that huge set of
inputs
although some of the other displays are being brought in.
