Sounds like a simple "not as compressed as normal" video stream
... DVD MPEG
compression can be varied to trade off picture quality against playing time
up to a maximum of (IIRC) 10Mbits/sec. Upping the data rate gives you less
total "playing time" per disc but etter quality.
