Agreed.
However, if you are building / seriously renovating, then the marginal
cost of adding lots of flood-wiring is low, and therefore, in my view,
it would be worth doing.
I still haven't, however, flood-wired my house with CAT5 ;-)

The new WLAN technologies will be 100Mb+, and due next year. Windows XP
supports RADIUS for both wired and wireless network security which
encrypts every packet at the OS level so there's no need for the cards
themselves to offer it (It is like running a VPN on your local network).
If the Marantz RC-5200 (?) has sufficient range, then IR distribution is
taken care of.
I already have curtain control through X10.
I realise that in order to do it today you need CAT5, but I don't think
it will be necessary in a couple of years.
Just an opinion....
