Erm - actually I never posted it here - that was another list ;-) ....
but here's the most recent comparison. I'm due to do another in a few
weeks time. This one was dated 20th June.

Almost 3 months since I last ran the calculation. Again the basis for
calculation is:
=20
- today's pricing at Scan
- cheapest =A3/meg is currently the IBM 40.1Gb at =A367+vat =3D =A378.72
(=
by
co-incidence, in Today's specials)
- cheapest ATA-100 controller is =A322.33 (mysteriously up from last
time!)
- all prices include VAT but not delivery
- 4.6Gb of storage per DVD to be ripped.
=20
The price per DVD-equivalent is now down to =A39.67. This is a fall of
about 15% over the last quarter, or a fall of about 25% since
January....
=20
We are therefore now firmly in the land where Disk Space + Rental <
Purchase Price, assuming, of course, that one already has a PC with a
DVD drive.
=20
January - =A312.50 / DVD
May - =A311.70 / DVD
July - =A39.67 / DVD
