Re: Re: Unwanted SCART lead switching

What's the thinking behind the mains leads. Are they designed to stop all
the shite coming into the equipment if so would a filter not do the same.

Ahem, I had contributed by the time this came in.... another great
example of afternoon email lag ;-)

Seriously, I'm now using the "two cheapies" on the digital cable,
and
haven't really bothered with the "wildly expensive."

I've tried various speaker cables in my time, and determined that the
"3-4/meter" stuff indeed sounds much better than bell wire, but
I'm not
really prepared to spend more at the moment.

On interconnects, I have more trouble hearing a difference, and have
ended up with "£40 interconnects" on my preamp-power amp
feeds and the
DVD-preamp feed (except that I'm now using ONLY the digital out anyway,
but that's a different story.)

I use "B&Q"-brand mains leads ;-)

My next "lead experiment" will probably be a Russ Andrews mains
lead for
the DVD player. This is on the basis that, for me, the ONLY way to
determine whether it's worth upgrading is to try the upgrade in MY
system, and Russ Andrews has an excellent reputation for "try at home,
and full money back if you decide not to."

Perhaps Mark H would like to contribute to this discussion? I left him
with
a few different cables to try on his Meridian and I wonder if he's had
any
thoughts yet...
