Getting CAT5 behind capping

I've now reached the point where I've got CAT5 cables coming
down the walls and I need to fix them behind some 65mm galvanised
steel capping.

The problem is that the CAT5 cable seems to have a mind of it's own,
and doesn't want to go in nice straight lines so that I can get the
capping over it!

Somebody else must have had this problem and overcome it?
