I presume this is an ISA NIC? If so e-smith does not support many ISA cards by default since PCI cards generally self-configure.
 
about installing ISA cards in ES&G

Just installed e-smyth but it doesn't seem to have support for the NIC I'm using (3Com 3c509b).
 
I'm using the latest version ISO - am I limited to the short list of drivers shown?
