Damn ... I was assuming that DMA on the DVD drive wasn't active as:

1) When accessing CDR/DVDs the processor loading hits 95%+.
2) The ATi WinDVD player software tells me that DMA is turned off.

Therefore I assumed it was possible to turn it on...
