I have just contacted them and apparently 'unattended use' is calculated as connections where there is no traffic, so that would include me looking at a long web page whilst connected, or messaging services with little or no chat etc etc. This is not how I see unattended use, I would only be connected to such services whilst I am at my computer, so it is attended, though it might not be 'active'. The guy on the end of the phone said there was no-one I could complain to, nothing I could do apart from get another ISP or broadband (which is not available to me). I suppose I could take them to court and I would probably win (after all how can they prove whether or not I was in front of my computer at any time) but what compensation could I get? After all they are not charging me for something and then removing it, I pay monthly so I will simply not pay once I am disconnected. It stinks, but there is nothing we can do.

Well despite me setting my router to only allow 15 hours 50 minutes of
connection time (following a warning from BT) I have now been sent notice of
termination of my BTAnytime account. So I now need to find another ISP who
can give me flat rate access, any suggestions. I could of course whinge on
about what complete shower of ***** they are and how don't have a clue about
customer service etc etc. But what is the point, they don't care, they don't
want or need our business and I am not willing to sit on the phone for hours
at national rate to argue for reinstatement to a service that has been
deteriorating for some time.

Regards

Graham
