AV Help (DTS)

Need a little bit of help on the AV side. I'm a bit crestfallen as I
*thought* I knew what I was doing.

I've just upgraded by old amp to a nice new shinny Yamaha 620, complete
with DTS. Now I can get DD to work without too many problems, however DTS
is a complete no no. The DVD is connected via a Toslink Optical Digital
cable. But when ever I play a DTS DVD I get no sound at all. The manuals
for both the amp and the DVD player are a complete waste of space. They
tell you what a particular button does, however not why! I thought the
computer manuals where obtuse, but these things are amazing.

Please don't tell me I need to upgrade the DVD player to a DTS compatible
one as there is no way I'll get that one past wifey.

Any suggestions welcome.
