It was caused because a little girl in one of the continental countries
plugged a set of speakers into a mains socket. The replacement for banana
plugs is the "sepakon" or BFA connector, where the equipment has
the male
part shielded internally, and the plug is a shielded 4mm female. RS sell
them, the part number for the red plug (got one in my hand) is 288-4428.
BTW in case anyone cares, if you open an RS trade account, next day
shipping
is free. Although the web site says minimum spend of ?250 a month, I've
been
ordering bits and pieces from them every few months for a couple of years.
I
spoke to a vary nice girl in Customer Services who opened an account for
me.
They aren't cheap, but their web site www.rswww.com is a real Aladdin's
cave
for geeky types!
