RE: I said I wouldn't...

The fact that some of the list has already gone down these routes is
exactly why most people post seemingly trivial questions (like mine) to the
group. There is such a wealth of knowledge on this group it would be silly
to think of something and try it and have it not work instead of posting a
couple of lines about the idea first to the group to see if anyone has done
it before and what problems were encountered if any.

The good thing about this group is that there is never anyone saying
"what a
stupid question" even if they *think* it and there is always someone
who
takes an interest in a question posed.

I have been on groups (for a very short time) that the first silly question
posed gets you flamed from all angles. What a refreshing change this group
is.

Thanks group

No worries Pedro .... it's just that many of us have been down these
routes
already and have been frustrated by the fact that it simply doesn't
work. I
guess it's too easy to be dismissive of an idea in a quick email instead
of
actually explaining *WHY* something won't work.

I have successfully used the ePod as a rolling picture viewer by the way
by
using a CF card to store pictures which I'd pre-sized to 640x480 (so
that
the shrinking was done as well as possible) with Photoshop and using a
Picture Viewer which I'd downloaded from somewhere. There have been
questions laid though about the sensibility of such practices given that
someone had their ePod die after it had been permenently on for some
considerable time and discussions were entered into over whether the
voltage
regulators for the display had simply burned out and if so was it a
faulty
regulator or was it an inherent fault in the design. This was never
satisfactorily resolved....
