I didn't read your second post but yes I am thinking of using the LCD as a
rolling still picture or maybe even showing small family videos without
sound.  Taking your point about the PCB - wouldn't it be possible to
substitute it with a monitor cable and a power supply?

The problem you then have is extending the signal leads to the screen as
there are loads of the suckers and they are fairly limited in their
maximum
length ... for example I wanted at one point to mount the screen from my
VAIO PCG-C1F (1280 x 768 resolution widescreen format) in my sunvisor
but it
wasn't possible due to the distance it would have had to drive!
