I've seen the CRT/lens things and can see they won't work at all.  I also
understand that the two types of LCD are different.

So the answer is that the colours would not be dark enough.  I can see that
would be a problem.  Actually mounting the LCD isn't difficult at all (be
careful when you take it apart), but if I'll get a crap image at the end, I
won't bother.

I'm not that interested in a large screen.  I thought that if I could do
one
for a few hunderd then I would, but if I can't I'll wait until they come
down in price (if they ever do).
