ITV will officially launch on Sky
Digital on 27 November, according to reports. Tests will begin a month
earlier of all 16 regional variations with the launch taking place four
weeks later.
It looks likely, at this time, that ITV will not fall
under the Sky remit which will mean that the channel will be available to
parts of Europe. Therefore, certain events, most significantly, The
Champions League, would not be allowed to be shown via digital satellite.
This is the latest in a series of negotiation breakdowns between ITV and
BSkyB, the highest profile so far being the lack of a carriage deal to
bring ITV Sport onto the Sky Digital
platform.
