Philips do make other modules to go with these, but they are not
available in the UK :-(
I brought both of these, last year as a way of looking to see if this
home automation thing was going to be for us.
You can program a learning remote to take the codes for the infra red
light switch, and its range is very good - obviously you do need to
be in the room, but you don't have to point the remote at the switch.
I used these along with the Philips remote, this allows you to
control both of these from one remote (getting the Philips to learn
the IR for the light switch is a pig). - I have a code that works on
the pronto so you are welcome to that if it would help
The Philips RF/IR remote:

The advantage then being only one remote is needed.
The philips is still the best system I have for turning the garden
lights on and off for the dog - as they have the tiny remote controls
available that can be stuck anywhere! - I have mine on the patio doors
I have not found any other system available in the Uk that offers the
options of X10
Hope this helps
