I think there is really only one way to keep the temperature reasonable.

Some sort of roller blind that can be pulled across the windows by a motor
so you can block out the intense sun, then a low level air intake and high
level extraction to replace the hot air with cooler air from outside.

Hi,

Was wondering if anybody has experience in trying to 'manage' the
temperature of their conservatory.. We have a fairy well sized south
facing conservatory, with full blind set - although even with the
blinds fully up and windows open the temperature can soar in summer
to somewhere around the 45 mark! enough to cook anything and
everything, plants, humans, etc - left in there. What I would like to
do is put some fan or automated vent under HA control - so while we
are away, the temperature can be stopped from getting so high, so
some plants can survive in there.

I have looked round the net and found a company that supplies solar
film - which you can apply yourself.. claims to reduce the heat
entering via sunlight by about 50%. With that the temperature range
is reduced, so the problem should become easier to manage. Anybody
had experience with such film and does it work?

The glass is fully double glazed, so the option of installing a fan
in a pane to vent the hot air from the apex looks not viable at this
stage. There are two ceiling fans but when it gets hot just serve to
recirculate the heat, rather akin to a fan oven..

I have fitted a B&Q 'special offer' air conditioning unit - which
just about manages to keep the temperature in a useable range during
early morning and late evening - but between 10am and 4pm we don't
even try.

All suggestions are welcome - much thanks

Keith
