Hi all,

A friend is doing up a house in south London and have asked me for
some input on what to pre-wire and plan for when it comes to HA.
Things being planned for include:

- Alarm (Comfort?)
- HA controller (Homevision, Comfort, PC?)
- Lighting control (Lutron, X10, A10, Cebus?)
- Heating (X10, Smartkontrols?)
- AV+IR distribution (Kat5?)
- CCTV (run coax or Cat5?)
- Whole house audio (music + announcements)
- Any other useful functions

I understand running Cat5 to *everywhere* is the key to most of the
above but some things like alarm system and lighting wiring need to
be planned separately as dedicated circuits. Are there any
locations where we should run Cat5 to that aren't obvious (like
above the front door for CCTV)?

The emphasis will be on simplicity and stability since the house
will be sold or rented to non-technical people who presumably don't
want to spend a sizeable part of their free time tweaking the
system.

Any suggestions, pointers etc would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Matt P

PS - I've already booked marked the wiring guide at
