Hi,
I had a similar problem in my Kitchen with my
Dishwasher.
I found it to be caused by a poor
connection between plug-in module and the socket. This was bad enough to
cause
the socket (MK) to burn around the live pin. I have replaced the wall
socket
and all is OK.

You
and
me both...
....I
have a similar "problem" too in my computer room at the moment. I
have two power outlets in the computer room - one is a triple switched and
the
other is a single switched.
The
single
switched has a six way stripblock running from it powering the stereo, the
TW7223, the H.H. box and the curtains.
The
triple switched has the following plugged unto it.
1)
An
eight way stripblock on one wall powering my wireless LAN A.P., Print
Server,
Router (via appliance module), Switch and two printers (all low current
stuff).
2) A
hard wired 4-into-1 fused power distribution block which routes via 3amp
fused
(so no overloading plugs and sockets) outlets to a further three wall
mounted
six way stripblocks mounted on a second wall powering three PCs, flatbed
scanner (via appliance module), PC speakers, monitor, film scanner, DAT
drive,
ISDN Modem (used for dialup during the day when the router is off),
HomeVision
PSU, X10 Mini Timer, KVM switch, ePod PSU and two 40 watt table
lamps.
3)
The
third socket is unused (to allow plugging in of hoover
etc.)
I
have
two desk lamps plugged into two lamp modules set to the same house code and
these have been being controlled by the direct switches on the Mini Timer
for a
couple of weeks as has the Router (which is only powered on between 6pm and
8pm
for BT Surftime access), the ePod PSU (which comes on at midnight and
goes
off at 1am to give the batteries a shot of charge) and the flatbed scanner
(which has no power switch but doesn't turn off it's scanning head
lamp).
Last
week I moved the control of the Router from the Mini Timer to HomeVision so
then it wouldn't turn off at 6am on Saturdays and Sundays but would stay on
all
weekend an that works fine.
Last
night I wanted to get the desk lamps controlled by H.V. using a PIR
(different
posting to the group) as I have no lightswitch by the door. I got the
switching
code working using a piece of wire bridging the ports but found that only
one
of the lamps was being controlled by H.V. - they are both on lamp modules
set
to the same address and are even plugged into adjacent sockets on the six
way
strip.
Moving
them apart (onto different strips) didn't change anything, swapping the two
modules over still only gave the same one responding, the other one was
ignoring all commands.
Plugging
an eight way strip into the third (currently unused) socket and plugging
the
lamp modules into that restored full simultaneous control of both lamps
from
HomeVision.
This
morning I have tried plugging both lamp modules back into where they were
before last night and *NEITHER* can be controlled by H.V. all three six way
strips are X10 "deaf" as far as the lamp modules are concerned
yet
the appliance module that controls the scanner and which is plugged into
one of
those outlets can be controlled directly from the Mini Timer or from H.V.
still. Go figure!
Now,
my
solution is therefore easy ... leave the eight way stripblock plugged in
and
just run the lights off that but maybe there's something in all that lot
that
can give you some ideas as to what is happening with your system
Ken?
