I had this problem at the beginning of the year.  Fortunately for us the
unit was within days of the boxes warranty running out.

In our case the tuner had failed and the swapped the unit (Pace for a
rubbish Amstrad) for us.  Apparently the tuner module overheats and then
expires.  I found a little info on the web at
