OT Linux question

HI,

I think that some of you use Linux for stuff. I have a question which I believe is so basic. I should ask it. However it is confusing me.

I am running slakware with kernel 2.2.19. I have 2 network card with completely different ip address.

            Eth0 192.192.192.3

            Eth1 10.10.10.1

With IP forwarding machine on either network can ping each other. However I want to try using the new simple source routing described in the advance routing how-to.

I can disable a user on eth0 by adding a route to eth0. I can then restore him by removing the route. This however isn’t a nice way to do it.

If I turn off IP Forwarding then no machines can ping each other but I also haven’t been able to add a route to allow one to ping.

Any Ideas or pointers would be very helpful

TIA

Paul
