On motion detection software like Gotcha you have the option to detect
movement by either comparing to the last frame or the start frame.  Doing
something similar you could get the camera to take a picture of the room
empty and compare it with the current image to determine if anything has
changed.  Obvious problems with this method would be light level changes in
the room and people moving stuff around.

Don't know the practicalities of this but if you  had a camera in a room
could you not use software to tell if someone was  moving=A0around or even
just sitting on the sofa. I know motion detection  software is available
but=A0this would not help=A0when sitting still, the  system could know
what=
an
empty sofa looks like so=A0work out=A0if someone  was on it.

Any thoughts or should I shut up.
