I'm afraid the simple answer is no...

.... the complex answer is ....

.... still no.

Thankfully PACE saw the "error" of their ways and made the later
boxes run
with either 38kHz IR or 38kHz IR + IRDA but the NTL boxes (DT1000 IIRC) are
IRDA only.
