Keyboard should work as the protocol is the same for DIN and Minidin.

Does the lead from the KVM have separate leads for Keyboard and mouse or is it a single plug at the KVM end. (1 plug to 2 leads for the PC) If it has two plugs for the PC end you may have had them reversed. The pinout for Keyboard and Mouse are different. They use the same pins for power  3&4 but different pins for clock and data. 1&5 for one, 2&6 for the other (dont ask me which)

Mouse wont work.

You can get mice that are PS2/Serial and they will work on any PC with an adaptor to make the pinout correct but that is because he mouse can use BOTH protocols Serial AND PS2

A KVM switch would be PS2 mouse only and unless the older PC had a PS2 socket it wont work.

Subject: [ukha_d] Keyboard and Mouse

Can I connect a PS2 mouse and keyboard to an older PC using mini din adapters to convert to the D and din connectors.
I've just connected up like this via a KVM switch and it doesn't seem to work, when the selector is on to the older PC the keyboard goes dead and the mouse does not work.

Thanks
