Point 2.

Getting more than 1 soundcard working in a machine is not a trivial task. $
soundcards in one machine would be a nightmare.

A 486 will not play MP3's. A P90 can play MP3 if doing NOTHING else.
Machines less than P200 will often stutter for no good reason.

How do you associate the MP3 file with a particular soundcard ?

You might be able to use something like the LP3 hardware player.
