I NEVER use the preview pane as we have had several virus infections at
work
by that means.

When NIMDA was at its worst we also disabled Javascript in the browsers as
one of its methods of propagation was to popup a window at 6000,6000 (about
6 feet below the floor by my calculations) and run the virus script.

Thats why I was using what I believed to be a safe interface via Yahoo.

:-(

Yes
Just by having the preview pane open
After reading that it was a virus I logged on to housecall on the net and
it
identifed that I had three virus files which it reported as beein Sircam
I had Fixsirc.exe
Ran it and it cleaned 3 files
Leaving onle the autoexec line which looks for sircam in the recycle bin

I was using my Libretto which I had just been working on so c: was shared
:(

Hi All,

I didnt look at most of the virus threads, I simply deleted them.

What was the virus that was inadvertantly posted to Yahoo?

At work we are banned from accessing private email either via POP3 or a
Webmail interface. Yahoo Groups was considered to be safe but today when I
tried to read one of the posts regarding the virus my browser tried to
access something, (cant remember what was in the address bar but it was
strange) and the browser said the page cannot be displayed.

My work desktop machine is running Win2K with ALL patches and updates
applied and running McAfee VirusScan TC (4.0.4172 latest DAT file). No
virus
alert popped up and the machine appears to be OK but I was severely worried
by the strange actions when viewing from what I believed to be a
"safe"
interface.

Did anyone get infected by viewing Yahoo Groups ?

Keith
