This was why I moved away from SCSI ... I used to get 9Gb SCSI hard discs
(and even a few 18's) from work that had been in the servers and had been
upgraded. Great ... they were nice and quick, ran a bit hot and a bit noisy
(could hear the 10,000 rpm ones from downstairs) but no great problem.
Piles
of external SCSI enclosures all with PSUs and fans all made sure that the
electricity board got their pound of flesh and I had a 130Gb(ish)
machine...

Now with IDE I have about 200Gb in one PC and as soon as the 160Gb drives
get out and turn up at my door then the server will have a couple of them
spanned giving 320Gb (minus formatting "drop") on two low
current, energy
friendly, noise friendly IDE discs...
