THIS IS MY OWN EXPERIENCE AND VIEWPOINT

I had an IBM 27Gig hard drive fail on me over the weekend with lots of
clicking and eventually not seen by the BIOS. No chance for data recovery
so
the lot is gone which is bad enough but.....
This was bought from Scan 2 years ago so no problem I thought, phone them
up, get an RMA number and send it back. Scan do not it seems answer any
enquiry by phone, mail, carrier pigeon or anything else where returns are
concerned. After a day trying I eventually called IBM and for the postage
cost of the drive to Holland I will have a new one in a week or two. IBM
had
me sorted inside of 5 minutes on the phone. All I have to do is run a
software test on the drive (pointless since the BIOS cannot see it) and
then
fill in a web form on the IBM site.

Lesson 1 and write down 1000 times.
'NEVER buy anything from SCAN I cannot afford to throw away if it goes
wrong.'

Another SCAN convert (away from them that is).

Ian
