In my Land-Rover days there was a thing called (something like) Uchmacker (very ish), it was a black thing that lorry drivers used to warm their vehicles.

I did have a brochure on them till I found out they were powered by the petrol in the tank.
Not a hazard I just thought it would be expensive to run...Like a Land-Rover isn't!!!!

Obviously not without some care.

Mine is an automatic, cant start in gear and gears cannot be engaged without foot brake being applied. Not on a public road.

Theft yes is a risk but the vehicle is 2 feet >from

I would say it is much safer to drive a properly de-frosted than to drive looking thru a small patch a the bottom. In in some harsh conditions scaped or de-iced with fluids freeze upon motion and this can be very dangerous.

My vehicle screen is also too large to reach to scrape and also the ocuppants require to be warm.

I knew someone would say this, it is ILLEGAL and very dangerous to leave an engine running when the drivers seat is unoccupied!

Without preaching there are quite a number of fatalities from this each year, do not ask me how, then there is the theft side, try claiming from your insurance company when you left the keys in and the motor running.

Sorry to sound a pain about this but I used to be a road safety campaigner and used to get all the horrific statistics, I do not now as I cannot hack it anymore.

Start the car and leave the engine running for 10 mins, that usually works.

Any 12v heater is going to hammer the battery and you need that well topped up to start on a cold morning.

There used to be a 240v device that you plumbed into the heater circuit that kept the water warm. Giving you instant heat from the car heater and fuel ecomny improvement.

Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to heat the inside of the car up first thing in the morning?

Ideally I would have a 12V heater in the car controlled in some wireless way >from class=SpellE>Homeseer.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Mark
