Phil,
There is a driver update for the Orinoco cards on Windows update, but I
guess if you can't get the WLAN to work then you can't download it. Let
me know if you want me to download it manually for you.
I've had it working no problem at all linking to a Windows 2000 desktop.
I can't install XP on the desktop yet because Intersil haven't got
around to producing f'ing drivers for their cards yet. Don't use any
Win2k driver disks as WLAN is one of the few pieces of hardware that
needs XP specific drivers.
I'm not sure whether access points will need a firmware update in order
to work with 802.1X extensions enabled. I can't get a definitive
statement on 802.1X and how it works though.
Tim.

cards.
Has anyone got this working?
Windows XP detects the wireless LAN card and installs the drivers for it
but then declares it as disconnected ... the ORiNOCO setup software
can't see the card and says there are no drivers installed but WinXP
says the device is working fine.
Definite downer here as otherwise XP seems pretty good on the laptop ...
sleeps quickly and resumes as soon as you open the screen!
