Has anyone else had problems with RJ45 network cables measuring out on a
tester fine, working on some PCs but not working on others?

I have made up a cable today for my brother in law to take back to South
Africa tomorrow and it works fine with my old Sony Vaio and PCMCIA
network adaptor (at 100Mbits full duplex) but my Compaq doesn't even see
it is there (even though the network switch lights up when the Compaq is
connected at the far end!)

Wierderama!

Phil
