I have found a use for these, local control in my Meerkat shed!

I was re wiring the shed/cage/nestbox this weekend and as it is now dark
when I get up and get home I needed a better system in their cage.

I now have a heatlamp that comes on in the morning just after their nestbox
heater goes off then the reverse in the evening.

I also have a lamp in their cage and another in the shed, that way when the
heatlamp goes off it switches on the shed lamp so I can see to feed them
when I get in then later when I am sure they have gone to bed I can switch
the shed light off from inside the house instead of going out in my PJ's.

What I am trying to do is replicate their normal light/heat during the day
and dark/cold during the night.
If it is dark and I come home and turn a light on it might (doubt it)
affect
their sleep pattern.

While I am on this subject, does anyone know what the underground
temperature in the South African Kalahari Desert is at night?

It seems about 20 deg C makes them happy in their nestbox, much less and
they cuddle up together to try and keep warm, but maybe that is what they
are meant to do?

personally I don't think they give a dam! as long as they are fed and
watered they are happy.

B.
