Meeting finished, here goes...

Answers to questions:

We recommend that everyone uses an installer to have PowerMax fitted, and technically
Gardiner's don't sell direct to the public, however, using the contacts below (supplied by Mark),
you may have some success. Gardiner's website (for this reason) is targetted at alarm
installers and so simply aims to get installers to contact them.

Mark's description of our Home Manager service (below) is better than I can do myself...
We don't sell any hardware at present, we simply suggest you get installers (I know you're
all capable of self install, but the PowerMax isn't regarded as a DIY product).
If you already have PowerMax, then as long as your X10 system is hooked up to it,
you can control anything through the internet if you're using our Home Manager.
The PowerMax will control a maximum of seven X10 devices.
That's it - no PC, no RF transmitters, nothing else, just PowerMax and X10 kit and Home Manager.

Our Home Manager has a range of prices for monitoring depending on the security level
you require for alarm monitoring. With the PowerMax, even the lowest level of cover has the
full HA capabilities. All prices are paid annually upfront (security industry norm). These
descriptions are brief - full info at www.intamac.com, or email me your address and I'll send
you the gumph.

Bronze: £7.50 a month (text, email, phone on alarm)
Silver: £9.99 a month (above automated response PLUS human to deal if you don't)
Gold: £14.99 a month (as silver PLUS 28 days per annum of Securicor First Response cover - when yr on holiday!)
Platinum: £39.99 a month (as gold BUT Securicor cover you 365 days a year!)

Estimate for installation of PowerMax alarm with 10 alarm sensors? - approx £750 thro' approved installer
though they'll give you a quote and we can recommend one if you like...
On top of this you need the X10 controller and upto 7 modules. Visonic supply these, through your installer!
(PowerMax can take upto 30 alarm sensors AND seven X10 devices.)

Hope this helps,

Cheers

Scott

Visonic have many distributors in the UK (and worldwide for that matter) If you call them on 01767 600857 they will let you know your local wholesaler.

Mine was purchased >from te www.gardinersecurity.co.uk )

The PowerMax system like many burglar alarms can be monitored centrally, although the monitoring companies would normally insist on a 'professional' installation form an 'approved' installer.  So if you wanted say BT RedCare monitoring  (probably the best - but doesn't work with Home Highway) you would need to find an approved installer to put the alarm in. Some installers I spoke to were very funny about 'wireless alarms' - I got the impression that the cheap B&Q DIY alarms have done a lot of harm to the wireless industry.

From what I can gather from Scott's mails his company seems to offer a rather different service (please correct me if I am wrong) By offering automation, monitoring and intrusion alert as a single service (although using many different products) I guess many of us on this list have similar goals although we all go about it in different ways maybe Comfort + Home Vision + Phone Serial Port for example or  Visonic PowerMax+ Home Seer + Modem as well as a whole host of amazing technology that people are using.

Scott - what is the typical monthly monitoring cost ?? and what would be the rough cost to install say a 10 sensor system with 2 cameras ??? It would be interesting to see how your 'out of the box' solution compares to our mix 'n' match solutions.

Mark

Hi Scott

Does your company actually supply the Visonics stuff as well? I'm looking for an alarm system for my new house (being constructed as we speak)
