Mark and Paul
This thread can take on a number of directions from outings to specific
suppliers to a professionally organised show. I have no particular
preference. However, if you want to consider one of the extremes I
happen to have an involvement with a professional event organisation and
I could ask them to give you a budget for running a possible HA event
which you could then handle yourself or have this organisation or
another handle for you. You would need to determine the following on the
assumption that this will be a relatively 'small' event with table top
exhibits and maybe a lecture room where exhibitors could give product
presentations.
1. Duration of event (one day or more?)
2. Potential number of exhibitors
3. Potential number of visitors
4. Seating capacity for lecture room
5. Any special requirements for exhibitors (power, internet access,
telephone, etc.)
6. Would exhibitors be charged to participate to cover the costs?
7. Would visitors be charged an entrance fee?
8. Will there be a need for printed material (list of
exhibitors/speakers/etc.)
9. Will there be a need for a (paid for) direct sales effort to recruit
exhibitors.
10. Will there be a need for email and or direct mail marketing to
attract visitors (if so are there relevant lists readily available).
11. Will there be a requirement for a PR campaign - 1 or 2 press
releases to a targeted press list.
12. Will UKHA members be willing to give press interviews.

If you think you want a more elaborate event, you would need to address
the above issues and as I said, I would be willing to help.

Roger
