Depends on the size in output and the watts
you are
consuming as to how long you would be able to run with flattening the
vehicle
battery.
Ours is used for medical equipment and as high
availability is required as is the desire not to flatten the vehicle
battery i
fitted a split charge relay and additional battery.
As to reliability its been 100% over 18months
use.
They are well protected internally and seem bullet proof. Ours supplies
300watts
to a 4 way block.

Subject: [ukha_d] OT? Power inverters
in
cars
Apologies if this is off topic.
I would like to
get
a power inverter for my car, so that I can use the laptop to show
movies
to the kids on long trips. It would be cheaper than a cigarette
adapter and more flexible.
My question is whether they're reliable,
particularly for electronics. I've heard that they can have
problems
maintaining the required power consistently, maybe when the engine is
turned off and on?
Thanks for any help.
