I tried the 300 quid LCD panel with one of these:

It's very cheap (40 quid IIRC), it (mostly) worked, but...

a) The quality was not great, particularly on black and white images

b) It didnt like the output from some modulators, and constantly
flicked on and off.

So for a while, we had a very small consumer of space tele in the
kitchen.  But the LCD is now on this very computer after it's display
died, and the kitchen now has a cheap goodmans (!) tele from comet or
currys, one or t'other.  Its not a patch on the sony it replaced, but
its better than the JoyTV / LCD.
