I’m using Media Player 8.0!

 

Des, I think you are correct and this is a DIVX file and I downloaded the Nimo Codec Pack and installed it. Still a non-starter though but I suspect that I’ve done something stupid and the readme/help in this download is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard!! Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Doh !

 

Ignore what I said then. Maybe they used some wierd codec that doesnt fully conform. Have you tried Media Player 7.1, that is the latest version.

It’s actually an .avi file Keith but in the summary the audio is MP3, sorry I didn’t really make that clear.

Try winamp.

 

I downloaded one file from Napster that wouldnt play in media player but would in Winamp.

 

Used Winamp to convert back to WAV and then re-encoded it and it plays OK in Media Player now.

I know, I know, OT posts and all that…but you guys are just a superb resource for information it’s verJ

Anyway, does anyone know what I would use to play back an MPEG layer 3 file as Media Player, Quicktime and Real Player refuse to play the file.
