Steve
Leave the TV to do the pictures and the sound system to do the sound
If you go for a CRT make sure its a flat screen type

in the end "you pays your money you take your choice" when it comes to what to actually buy
if your loaded get a Plasma or a projector

Hi,

All may be on topic may be not. Anyway after advice from you lot.

Current kit.

1. 14 year old TV
2. Nicam stereo video
3. Sky box
4. Sony surround sound (5 speakers inc sub) with front 2 speakers replaced with my Mission 707's
5. DDAR

We use this obviouly as the family TV and film room but also for music whilst not HI-FI buff gear it adequaetly fills the room and can thump out for a party.

We are now about to knock out our other living room/dinning room into one and want to create a movie/disco room with widescreen TV 36" (maybe larger) discos lights and bar.

Are any of these new TV's with built in speakers upto this task or should i use the audio gear i have. Do the new TV's have audio in/out facilities. Whilst i know i could use seperate amp for the disco side i would prefer not but also want some reasonable power to be able to feed the DDAR and/or a PC sound from.

I am not at all up on TV's and would welcome your thoughts
