Many years ago I used to by loads of computer magazines, often they'd have
a freebie on the front cover. Now I can't remember the magazine, but one
included a small clear plastic device that stuck to the side of your
mouse. There were a set of cross-hairs so that you could look through the
device to, say, a sheet of paper with a drawing on it and trace around it.
The theory was that you could trace round the image and effectively 'scan'
it manually.
I never used it, well I did try it once, but I've found a better use for
it.
