Hi Nigel,

There are some remotely controled switch boxes available in the States, but
nothing here that I know of. You might look at building your own using
relays and driving them with HomeVision if you have one.

I was not saying that you cant distribute speaker level via CAT5, I was
saying it is not a good idea as the cable doesnt have a high enough current
rating.

As I said before, CAT5 is a SIGNAL cable not a POWER cable. You dont need
my
KAT5 Units to distribute audio over CAT5, you can use a passive balun aka
Transformer to convert UNbalanced to BALanced run over CAT5 and then
BALanced to UNbalanced. Some people have also had success sending the
signal
straight over CAT5 but that method is not to be recommended as it is highly
prone to hum, noise and crosstalk pickup.

Any cable will carry electicity, how well it does it will be determined by
the type of cable, likewise you can fill a swimming pool with a garden hose
but the Fire Brigade would fill it quicker. :-)

The solutions offered by these companies obviously work, that is not in
question, the question is how well they work for the end users needs. The
choices are out there, in the end it is YOU the potential user that will
decide what YOU think is best based on Features, Performance and Price.
