What I want to distribute is a feed from the DDAR, an old tape deck or
whatever, basically stuff that I do not need or want in each room because,
although still in use, it is not heavily used. Although the DDAR will be
;o)

I would like to go down the whole house audio route but currently that is
an
expensive option and the gear I have is just stuff that's been accumulated
over the years from various sources and for various reasons. So buying a
whole house amp kinda winds me up as I have tons of other stuff, like three
micro systems, five amps and god knows how many speakers of varying sizes
and qualities and I can't help but feel all that gear will go to waste if I
install a full house type system. I could however, get HV to control each
unit in each room individually via IR and this thought has crossed my mind
on more than one occasion!

For example: for an IR code to switch on the kitchen micro system:

If
DDAR flag is set
Then
Transmit IR signal once #xx (set JVC to AUX input)
End if

Dunno, reckon it would work? I have sussed how to get HV to recognise IR
signals other than the standard remote codes so this should be an easy task
to get it to do this.

If each room has it's own CD/Radio then what exactly do you
want to distribute over line level?
