I know this has been discussed in the past, but since we've suffered from two, separate, mild attacks of vandalism at the rear of our property in the last couple of days, SWMBO has given outline consent for a CCTV installation, no, in fact she suggested it!

I've always considered that when I got round to this I'd stick enough cheap weatherproof cams to the soffits to give all round visibility.  I'd never really considered beyond that.  The rear of our property (where the incidents took place) consists of a wall, about 8ft tall, between neighbours garages on either side.  There are large wooden gates in the wall.  The gates open out onto a private access road serving two other houses, not a busy road, and not well overlooked.

Before parting with hard-earned I've now got a few questions, if I may;-

- A cheap cam installed at the rear is, itself, going to be vulnerable to attack, any suggestions?
- Recording strategy?  Time Lapse?  PIR Triggered?
- Recording to?  PC?  VCR?
- Multiplexing kit?

I'd still like to go for some king of discrete micro-cam under the soffits, I don't want the place to end up looking like a Fort!

The Response stuff seems to be well recommended by others here, but Homebase appear to be all but out.  Where else can I buy this stuff?  Do they have anything more vandal proof or can I link a more 'professional' vandalproof camera into one of their multiplexors?

I know B&Q and Makro are also good bets but haven't had chance to visit yet.

Thanks in advance.

Nick
