Yes, good idea, but the control box must be able to execute the macros
remotely too.

I would suggest something like (wot) is used in the AXIS webcams you
basically do

arp -s MAC_ADDRESS IP_ADDRESS

and then ping the IP_Adress, the device then basically says Ooo that's
my mac address and they're giving me my IP address. you don't need
anything as advanced as DHCP...
