I've had SM in all my digital cameras for the last few years ... it's only
the E10 that supports CF & CF2. Overall there is little to choose
between
them other then capacity and what is an expensive SM card today is
tomorrows
bargain.
When I bought my C900 Zoom it came with a 4Mb card, I bought an 8Mb card at
the same time for about £60.
A year later, when I bought my C3030 Zoom it came with a 16Mb card, I
bought
a 64Mb card at the same time for about £105.
Again, a year later, when I bought my E10 it came with a 16Mb card (tight
gits!), I bought a 64Mb card at the same time and it cost me £49!
If the lack of increasing capacity puts you off SM cards as media then
consider buying a digital wallet in the medium term ... then you don't have
all of your photos on a single (fragile) card. I get about 390 shots on a
1Gb microdrive at minimum compression (600 - 1,100 at higher compressions)
and at full 4Mpixel resolution. I daren't think about how pissed I'd be if
I
lost a 1Gb MD full of pics due to a failure!
