That's what I thought of at first but then you would have a big box on the
outside for each individual room being cooled - not the prettiest sight!

Yep, I want solar power to, now, and lots of it - but its too expensive at
the mo.

Couldn't you just buy 2 units at "well under 1K" instead?

What's really neaded is a solar powered air con unit, so that when it gets
hot (usually when the sun comes out!!) it's powered...  - it is of course
unfortunate that this is a pipe dream - at least at the moment.
