The adverts appear in HTML messages.  The key to preventing them is for
people not to post in HTML.  Unfortunately, the settings at eGroups that I
can find only allow you to specify that text messages are forwarded as
HTML - there seems no way to force HTML to be forwarded as text if you get
my drift!
