The AEG's are rated at 6500BTU each so I reckoned that 13000BTU of cooling
for £230 was a bloody good deal in anyone's book!

This Electrolux portable unit is of the split type (actually shown on Alan
Blackham's website as mentioned by Mark). The output is 12,000 BTU and is
powerful enough to cool our living room. These units were apparently
imported directly by Currys and not via Electrolux UK. We got one for
about £400 which was very cheap. We did look into fixed units for each
room but we were quoted around £1,000 for each bedroom and £1,700 for the
living room!
As the average temperature is getting hotter, aircon is becoming a
necessity rather than a luxury.
