Agreed, but it's not the cost of the amp that winds me up, I think that's
probably although slightly expensive, about right.
It's the IR receivers that get me, I mean you can get an RF one, with built
in power and a TX unit for £30 off Mike's site as well and yet the cheapest
receiver compatible is twice that price! Now I ain't no electronics wiz
like
a lot of you guys but I run a business and understand about a thing called
margins IMO, Xantech are making too much if that, because they can! They
have a very select and limited clientele who will pay the exorbitant money
just to have it "done right and look right". I had look inside
the Hidden
Link IR receiver as I blew it up, and there is not much in there besides
the
TX and RF LED's so I reckon that these things cost buttons to actually
make.
I'm not having a dig at Let's Automate either in any way and I have to
acknowledge that the system does work very well indeed, but its pricey.
K.

The question is though ... why are the IR receivers (in general - not a dig
at LetsAutomate who are pretty good for pricing and I have great respect
for
them and their service) so expensive though? I mean, Ian's IR receiver is
no
more than a few quid to build. What makes a 10 way IR distribution amp
worth - what - £80?
